Anti Mullerian Hormone

The AMH test measures Anti Mullerian Hormone in the blood. AMH is a hormone produced by reproductive tissues in Women. AMH levels typically increase during puberty and then gradually decline over their reproductive years, becoming almost undetectable after menopause. AMH measures the number of follicles within the ovary which can be used as a 'surrogate' of a woman's egg number. It is regarded as a measure of 'Ovarian reserve'

AMH may be abnormally elevated in conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or Ovarian tumors. It is generally not used as a single screening tool for PCOS or a single predictor of fertility according to the the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It should be used as part of an investigation.

ETA for results: 3-7 days

NOTE: Biotin may interfere with the test and cause falsely low results at doses more than 5mg p/day. Cease biotin (B7) for a few days before test. Or consult your Dr first for advice if prescribed.
